NORWALK, CT — Norwalk High School seniors who plan to pursue a career in a healthcare related field may apply for a $1,000 scholarship from Urgent Care of Connecticut. Eligible students must be graduating high school seniors with a 3.0 grade-point average or higher who intend to continue their education at a four-year college or university or two-year accredited associates or certificate program.
The scholarship selection criteria include demonstrated academic achievement, community service or volunteer work, and sound character. Applicants are also required to write an essay "Why Have You Chosen a Career in a Healthcare Related Field?"
Applications are available in the Norwalk High School guidance office. The postmarked deadline is February 1, 2012.
Urgent Care of Connecticut was established in 2008 by business partners Jeannie M. Kenkare, D.O., R. Robert Rohatsch, M.D. and Bernd G. In addition, Urgent Care of Connecticut partners with area businesses to provide employment physicals, tuberculosis testing, adult immunizations, occupational health needs, worker’s compensation care and injury management. Most major insurances are accepted.
The locations in Southbury, Brookfield, Norwalk, and Ridgefield are open 365 days a year from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
