September 29, 2011 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NORWALK — The Norwalk location of Urgent Care of Connecticut has earned the Certified Urgent Care designation from Urgent Care Association of America, which distinguishes it as a true urgent care center. The clinic has met all of the Urgent Care Association of America's established criteria including walk-in, extended hour medical treatment with licensed providers on staff during all hours of operation.
The health care environment is changing and it is increasingly important for patients to know and understand their treatment options. Urgent care fills the gap between primary care and hospital emergency rooms, offering convenience and cost savings. When a medical condition cannot wait to be handled by a patient's regular doctor; such as an unexpected cut, burn, sprain or fracture that does not require a visit to an emergency room, urgent care is a viable option for these conditions and an array of medical treatment needs.
Certified urgent care clinics are required to be equipped with IV fluid/medication, oxygen, EKG monitors, automated external defibrillators, X-Ray services, phlebotomy laboratories, and medication dispensaries. Licensed providers and staff are always available during operating hours and trained to use the above equipment and perform minor procedures like casting and suturing.
With this certification, Urgent Care of Connecticut and the Urgent Care Association of America demonstrate their commitment to providing patients with access to appropriate levels of care. The Norwalk location of Urgent Care of Connecticut joins the Southbury and Brookfield locations as certified urgent care clinics. The fourth and newest location in Ridgefield, which opened September 6, 2011, is in the process of attaining certification.
Urgent Care of Connecticut was established in 2008 by business partners Jeannie M. Kenkare, D.O., R. Robert Rohatsch, M.D. and Bernd G. Woerner, M.D. The three board-certified physicians wanted to provide quality, convenient and timely medical care to local communities while easing volume in emergency rooms for non-life and non-limb threatening medical conditions. Urgent Care of Connecticut is independently owned and operated by its holding company, Zucyla Enterprises, LLC.
Urgent Care of Connecticut offers walk-in treatment for influenza, respiratory infections, strep throat, open wounds, broken bones, poison ivy, urinary tract infections, Lyme disease and more. Services also include vaccinations, X-Rays, blood and urine tests, EKG’s, pre-operation evaluations, physical exams, and IV fluid/medication. Urgent Care of Connecticut can dispense commonly prescribed medications at all locations.
In addition, Urgent Care of Connecticut partners with area businesses to provide employment physicals, tuberculosis testing, adult immunizations, occupational health needs, worker’s compensation care and injury management. Most major insurances are accepted.
